After all, what fun is racing when you can’t use a car to bounce off of through a corner? Only in pretend land!
So Ashlynn surprised me on my birthday present early, buying me a PS3 and Gran Turismo 5 last Thursday. Best Buy must love us with the combined spending of two gaming systems and accessories in a two day period, but it was part motivated by wanting to give it to me early, and to take the opportunity to re-wire the entire entertainment center setup which hadn’t really been touched since we moved in, and we also had to add a cable box from Comcast after recently upgrading to the next level of basic cable. HDMI cables makes the job pretty easy as there isn’t a huge mess of wires, but sadly the Wii is still component cable, so the PS3 and 360 get the hi-def and the Wii remains at 480i. We bought an additional cable thinking the cable box supported it too, but it did not. Sad indeed. But that leaves me an extra cable to see if the PS3 will hook up to my monitor, soon as I find another power cord, because I zip-tied everything down behind the TV per my usual OCD self. GT5 is an amazing game graphics-wise, a step up from GT4 which was also good. Already got about 5% into it over the weekend with plenty left to go. Not sure what else I want to buy for it at the moment, most likely the Initial D game, and trial-running LittleBigPlanet from a friend to see if I like it enough to want it and LBP2. Thinking about getting a Gamefly account and using it to trial some other games. Also thinking about finding a copy of Borderlands for the 360 and trying my hand at the game on console.
As for the 360, it saw some use over the weekend with the Kinect for Ashlynn’s party, which was a pretty good time. Not a lot of people showed up, but enough to make it a blast. Apparently I was more social this time around I’m told, but really all I did was play Loaded Questions with most of the group and start some Guitar Hero: World Tour afterwards until everyone left. This morning we went out to Cosmic Omelet for breakfast, because we had heard of some specials on omelets with chili. True statement, quite delicious, should really be a regular menu item. Spent the day playing games and doing my internet things, got a stack of weekly anime I haven’t watched, but I’ll get to it eventually.
I will say the only blight to my weekend was having to clean the apartment before the party, as it highlights my ever-increasing annoyance with these animals, especially this dog. I’m not fond of cleaning up messes, accidental or not, and it took me most of the morning and afternoon just to clean the living room and get the stains out of the carpet, also an uphill battle. I’m not a neat freak, not by far, but I am fairly self-contained, I keep my messes within a certain radius or to a certain area, mainly my desk, my side of the bed, etc. It makes it easier for me to pick up and put away when it comes time to clean. Ashlynn and the animals however, explode into corners of the apartment I didn’t even knew existed sometimes, with things all over the place I have to find and clean. They say you can never have enough trash cans, and I’ve almost contemplated buying a half-dozen and positioning them in various parts of the apartment, just to encourage things go out. Then there are the animal smells and accidents, and I’m not going to go into depth on them, but there is a reason I want a house, so I can kick them outside or confine them to an area and teach them a lesson. It’s unacceptable. Period. That’s how I roll. Of course I didn’t sign up for 2 of the 4 animals we have, but again, another story. Minor pet peeve of the weekend though, I’m trying not to let it drag everything down, but in case someone reads this, that’s why I was a jerk a little all weekend.
Shit, 1am? My body is not ready for work in the morning.
